David Schroeders, Schroeders Homes Inc.

David SchroederDavid Schroeders is a sixth generation builder and a first generation American. His parents moved to the U.S. from Southern Holland in 1956. Schroeder attended the University of Dayton and earned a degree in civil engineering. He taught himself AutoCAD and was the first to bring AutoCAD to other builders in southwest Florida.

In recent years. Schroeder has grown very concerned about the environment and dependence on fossil fuels. Shroeder completed his first zero-energy home in August of 2007. Since that time, he has been recognized by FSEC and the Department of Energy as a leader and an innovator in the building industry.

Schroeder Homes has also moved into the commercial photovoltaic market, installing three 25 kilowatt systems with several more on order. The company is working with a large developer to install 135 kilowatts for a low-income apartment complex.
